Top iPhone Apps for the traveller

August 10th, 2008 by iPhoneTechZone

Over the last few weeks I have been planning my summer vacation and at the same time trying to find the most useful iPhone apps for travel. I finally picked 7 of them.

Pageonce (available at App store for free: webpage: pageonce.com)

Pageonce is essentially electronic collections of your credit cards statements and utility, phone bills. It does not store your passwords of your accounts. So the security is not an issue. Once you open the pageonce. You can check if there is unpaid bills. As long as you remember the password of pageonce, you will get all the statements of the accounts you put in the pageonce. Why put it on the top of the list? I want to pay off all the bills before I go on my vacations so that I will not be charged for late payments when I come back.

IconFind

This is one of my most favorite web apps for iPhone. You can save the link of iconFind on your iPhone home screen. With IconFind, You can search the points of interests and locate them on the google map. Clicking on the interesting point of interest gives you the address, phone number and home page. The icons include Hospitals, Pharmacies, Police, Vets, Gasoline, Auto Repair, Tires, Rest Areas, RV Parks, Bed and Breakfasts, Hotels, Tourism, Libraries, Museums, Galleries, Wal-Mart, Shopping, Coffee, and ATM

Travelocity for iPhone (you can get from app store for free)

If you book through Travelocity, you can view your complete
itinerary.  You can get gates and times for every flights.  You can
also get security wait time so that you can plan ahead when should you
get to the airport.

Urbanspoon (available at App store for free)

This is one of most popular iPhone apps in app store.  It contains
comprehensive lists of restaurants with reviews and ratings.  You can
use GPS to find the restaurants near you and filter them  by
neighborhood, cuisine or price.

Gas Finder

Gas price is getting so high these days.  Filling your tank at the nearest gas station with the cheapest price can save you $$$.

Kayak on iPhone

Kayak is one of the best sites to book flights.  Although this is
not specially for iPhone, it is for smart phone and can be used on
iPhone as well. You can book fights on the go with Kayak.

Wikipedia on iPhone

Wikipedia is such a useful reference that I really want to have it on iPhone so that I can use it on the go.  There are several apps available. I use powerset and very happy with it so far.
