Apple refuses Opera for iPhone

October 31st, 2008 by iPhoneTechZone

We were suprised to read today that the Opera Browser developed for the iPhone was refused by Apple and won’t be make its way onto the AppStore after all.
As in the past, the reason provided for the refusal is that the application is in direct competition with Apple’s Safari, the native browsing application of the iPhone.

The only option now left to Jon Stephenson von Tetzchner, co-fonder is to make his browser available on the open source application installer Cydia. This will greatly limit is penetration as it’s only possible to access the third party apps that make up the Cydia repository from a jailbroken iPhone.

October 21st, 2008 by iPhoneTechZone

A nice new little application named Pano has been released on the App Store that expands the current photographic limitations of the iPhone and makes it possible to make some rather nice looking panoramic pictures. Pano isn’t Photoshop and surely won’t hurt too bad your waller with it’s price tag of three bucks.

All you need to do to is start by snapping the left area of the panorama before moving a pic at a time on to right side. With the transparency of your pictures appearing superimposed on the left, it makes the whole task easy.

Here are some examples of what you can do using Pano:

October 17th, 2008 by iPhoneTechZone

PDANet has always been extremely popular on windows OS based mobiles. This application lets you in a very simple way turn your smartphone into a Wi-Fi router to enable sharing the internet with your computers. It’s about the get even more popular now since an iPhone version has just been released. Unlike other the apps such as iPhoneModem or NetShare that tethers the iPhone through SOCKS proxy, PDANet acts as a true Wi-Fi router!

No more annoying need to configure settings in your browser or need to specify an IP address each time. This is simply just like any other Wi-Fi router. Set it once and you’re good to go!
The only downside is that this app requires a jailbroken iPhone to work. It’s available only on Cydia.

For those wondering how to get it off Cydia or configure the app the 1st time to take a look at the guide made by iphoneoverdose.com
