June 29th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone

We got all excited when redsn0w was released to jailbreak the iPhone and iPhone 3G on firmware 3.0. Plus, with ultrasn0w to unlock 3G , that was even better. When news broke that the iPhone 3GS jailbreak was imminent, users around the world cheered. The iPhone Dev Team can jailbreak the iPhone 3GS.

3gspwn

However, they are going to hold off releasing the jailbreak until later. Why? Well, if the Dev Team releases the 3GS jailbreak now, it will only benefit the early adopters plus once the 3.0.1 update is out, it’ll be back to square one. So to prevent this, the Dev Team is going to wait until the next update is released (which should be coming soon) to unveil the iPhone 3GS jailbreak. Some more details by the Dev Team : If you already have a 3GS phone and have already done a full USB dump or captured your img3s signed with your ECID, then youre in great shape. You will always be able to jailbreak.

Apple already sold more than one million iPhone 3G S handsets

June 22nd, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone

On Monday, Apple announced that they have sold over 1 million new iPhone 3G S in only the three days since the new iPhone hit stores. They also announced that over 6 million users have downloaded the new iPhone 3.0 OS update.

“Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” said Steve Jobs, Apples CEO who has recently undergone surgery. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apples revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”

Today is the first day that Steve Jobs has made an announcement since he took leave several months ago. Word has it, Steve Jobs will be returning to the company from leave in the next few weeks but only part-time as he still is recovering.

The sales of the iPhone 3G S have already out-sold the original iPhone by nearly 750,000 in the first weekend sales.

Apple is doing extremely well with the launch of the iPhone 3G S, especially with the release of the Palm Pre recently and the soon to be released myTouch 3G from T-Mobile. The Apple store has over 50,000 apps, so the community is definitely extremely strong and customers are very loyal to Apple can the same be said about other phone manufacturing companies?

June 17th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone

Apple had previewed the iPhones OS 3.0 in March and had announced to released it on June 17. Today at 10:10 am the iPhone OS 3.0 got available at the iTunes store. It requires iTunes 8.2 to upgrade your iPhone OS 3.0. For iPhone owners, the upgrade is free but for iPod Touch users, it is available for $9.95.

Many people have confused iPhone OS 3.0 with iPhone 3GS. Please note that it is iPhone OS 3.0 release not the iPhone 3GS. The iPhone 3GS will have iPhone OS 3.0 as the native OS though.

The new iPhone OS has got most of the features which were long awaited. iPhones lacked many basic functionalities like Copy/Paste, MMS and tethering. Apple has addressed most of the problems. Here is a list of some features of iPhone OS 3.0.

Cut, Copy & Paste

The basic feature of cut, copy and paste was not available in the previous versions of iPhone OS and was a big point for iPhone critics. But now Apple has addressed this issue and the functionality is added now. This feature not only applies to the text but also the images. You can now copy the images from the web and paste into your emails etc.

Tethering

With this feature, you can use you iPhone to give Internet access to your laptop.

Landscape Keyboard

Cut, Copy, Paste and Landscape Keyboard

Many times, the on-screen keyboard seems to small for excessive typing . Now the keyboard can also be used in the landscape mode to give you a little wider keyboard.

MMS

MMS

MMS is also supported now, though AT&T has not a support for that yet. You will have to wait a month or two to get this feature over the AT&T network.

Spotlight Search

Spotlight Search

Like Mac OS X, there is a spotlight, a universal search to search through all the apps.

Voice Memos

With voice memos, you can record audio in your iPhone through the built-in mic.

Calendar

Buy Movies, TV Shows, and Audiobooks

Now you can buy Movies, TV shows and audiobooks right from the iPhone over 3G. However, you will need a wi-fi connection for downloads exceeding 10MB

Stocks

There are lot more little enhancements.

Some Apple iPhone Users Enrage Over AT&T Upgrade Policy

June 17th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone

Just got off the phone with AT&T customer service and were told that as of a few minutes ago they have adjusted their policy on iPhone 3GS upgrade pricing.

IF you purchased an iPhone 3G between June – August 2008 you will now be eligible for an upgrade to the iPhone 3G ONLY IF you spent more than $99 per month! So you would save $200 and pay the same amount as a new customer and get a new two year contract.
