RipDev Closes its doors
October 23rd, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
If you don’t know them then I’m sure you’ll know some of the apps they’ve made. The first one was Installer which was like Cydia. This was a great app to start with, but only a few months ago was deleted and can no longer be used. Then they came out with Icy which had the same System as Cydia had. It is really quick but I think most people ended up going back to Cydia again. They also have other Apps that some people may know about such as Kate and Push.

Well that’s enough history! Sadly for reasons we don’t know about, they have closed there website and will likely be removing there Cydia Repository and some of there Apps pretty soon. So will you miss them? They have did a lot of the Jailbreakers Community and I for one will likely miss some the the new apps they have been making and for there skill in the Jailbreakers world.

October 17th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
Orbit for the iPhone has hit the Cydia Store today for just $1.99. Orbit is a new app that has been developed by Steven Troughton-Smith and is available through the BigBoss Repo in Cydia. When selected the app launches and shows you all your pages making it easier for you to select and get to your pages quicker.
Here is the what the description in Cydia Says:
Orbit brings you an instant way to switch between pages on your home screen. Based on the iPhone Expose concept, this modification gives you an icon that, when tapped, animates your home page into Orbit.
Video:
Orbit is only available for 3.0 firmwares and above. I have to say that this is the first Cydia app that I have bought and I think I have made a great choice.

Jailbreak 3.1.2 firmware (iPhone 2G, 3G, 3GS and iPod) With PwnageTool 3.1.4
October 13th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
The iPhone Dev Team has released their latest version of PwnageTool which lets you keep your unlock from 3.0 and upgrade all the way to 3.1.2 firmware.

If you’re already jailbroken (by whatever means), you don’t need to mess around with DFU mode at all. Just create (or get from a friend) your custom IPSW and Option-Restore (Shift-Restore on Windows) to it via iTunes. Don’t enter DFU mode at all. Please make sure you are restoring to the custom IPSW, not the stock one from Apple! For best results, use the latest iTunes (9.0.1) — which includes a nice new application organizer.
This release allows your baseband to remain unlocked at 3.1.2, but it does not unlock a new baseband put there by restoring to official 3.1.x. It is super important that people who need the unlock to understand they can keep it only by starting at 3.0 (or earlier) and updating solely to custom IPSWs that don’t update the baseband. For those who have been onboard the “unlock train”, simply install ultrasn0w via Cydia once you’ve restored to your custom IPSW.
Don’t forget to turn off the “3G” setting in Settings->General->Network if you use T-Mobile in the U.S.A.

Step by Step Guide to Jailbreak your iPhone With
October 12th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
GeoHot released its latest jailbreak utility for iPhone OS 3.1.2 Blackra1n, a Windows-only release, just like his previous opus, purplera1n.
George Hotz new software is a “30 second ALL device 3.1.2 jailbreak.” He does caution that you cannot update to 3.1.2 on the 3G and 3G S using iTunes if you want to maintain an unlocked phone but that otherwise this is the tool you have been waiting for.

To complete the process in 30 sec follow the steps below:
1) Download and install the latest version of iTunes
2) Update/restore to the original iPhone OS firmware 3.1.2 on your iPhone by using the latest version of iTunes.
3) Download blackra1n for Windows. Click here to download
4) Start blackra1n app. If you are on Windows 7 or Vista, run the app with “Windows XP Compatibility” mode by enabling it from the “Properties” tab to avoid any errors during the jailbreak process.
5) Click on make it ra1n:

6) Let the app do its thing and wait for the phone to automatically reboot.
7) You should now have “blackra1n” in the list of applications on your iPhone. Run “blackra1n”, download Cydia and let it install it.

Finally reboot your iPhone. Mission accomplished

All iPhones & iTouches 3.1.2 Jailbreak Tool Blackra1n
October 11th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
GeoHot has released jailbreak application blackra1n for iPhone OS 3.1.2 devices. Blackra1n is very efficient 30 second jailbreak tool and works for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 2G & iPod Touch 3G running on iPhone OS 3.1.2. At the moment this jailbreak tool is available for Windows users only and soon it’ll be out for Mac.

WARNING: Even though the GeoHot jailbreak supports 3.1.2 do not update if you are on iPhone OS 3.0.1 or 3.0. You will lose your unlock. Use PwnageTool to safely update to 3.1 without performing a baseband update. If you really must have 3.1.2 then wait for the next version of PwnageTool. If you have already updated to 3.1 or 3.1.2 without using PwnageTool then you’ve lost the ability to unlock for the time being. You can now use BlackRa1n to at least regain your jailbreak

Download blackra1n

New Jaibreak Tool by GeoHot to Jailbreak All iPhones
October 6th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
It seems GeoHot has done it again !!!, According to his blog and his twitter update, we can soon expect a unlock which will jailbreak and unlock all the iDevices (iPhone’s and iPod’s) no-matter from what generation they are, if they are on 3.1, it will jailbreak them, Currently he is developing a program, definitely an interface program which will be user centric and easy to understand and use for non-tech junkie !!!

George Hotz went on the say:
No affiliation to greenpois0n. and it’s in some ways the complete opposite of purplera1n. but still 10 seconds. and may work for every version of software *ever*, based on the prettiness of the exploit.
We can expect some good news soon

You will first have to establish a Flickr account, in Yahoo or you can use your existing Yahoo account. Once you open the app for the first time and login to your account your good to go with either uploading from your camera roll or by generating new content by taking new pictures or video.
