ToneFxs Ringtone iPhone Application
November 16th, 2008 by iPhoneTechZone
ToneFxs is another interesting ringtone application I just discovered on cydia.

ToneFxs makes it easy to create and randomize all your favorite ringtones on your iPhone. For example chose one set of ringtones for your calls, another for SMS, one for your Mail…
All you need to do is install this program that is available for either Mac or PC and follow the easy instructions.
ToneFXs comes with an ultra cool shuffle feature. When turned on, everytime a call comes in you hear a different custom ringtone that you have put on your iPhone. This is a great feature when you have many custom ringtones and you want to enjoy all of them. How sweet is that!! It gets even better. With ToneFX, you can select the ringtones you want to shuffle. Why is this super cool? Imagine a scenario where you have created 3 ringtones from one song with iPhoneRingToneMaker; that is the first verse, second verse and the chorus. Now you can select those 3 and enjoy them all. In another scenario, let’s say you have about 20 ringtones and 5 of them are from one artist you are really feeling. Now you can just select those 5 as the ones to shuffle.
Just as you use ringtones to spice up your incoming call alert/rings, ToneFXs lets you spice up your incoming call alert/ring. Say goodbye to sms sounds like tritone and create your own supa dupa sounds from your current and expanding music library.

More from from the ToneFXs Creator:
So where do I these cool ToneFXs from? The answer is YOU! We have built a simple and easy to use Mac and PC application called ToneFXsCreator that lets you create your ToneFXs from any of the music from your current and expanding music library and then have it automatically sent to your iPhone for you to use. If you are not up to this super easy task, we have bundled some really cool ToneFXs that you can choose from.
How do I install ToneFXs?
1. You need a jailbroken iPhone (2.0 and above)
2. Launch the Cydia app
3. Go to Sections
4. Select Utilities
5. Scroll to and select ToneFX
6. Select Install

iRinger lets you create free iPhone ringtones from music or video files
September 5th, 2008 by iPhoneTechZone
One of my biggest complaints about the iPhone is the Apple lockdown on using your own music videos as a ringtone. Even music officially purchased from the iTunes music store can’t be used as a ringtone. Being asked to spend $1 for 30 seconds of a song is just silly.

Thankfully there are several alternatives, including the one I’ll link to today. iRinger is a (windows only) ringtone editor for the iPhone which allows you to select portions of a song or video file.
The application is free, but the developer asks that you consider donating $10 to unlock some extra features.

How to make or get free ringtones for your iPhone

3 Ways To Get iPhone 3G Ringtones

If you’ve had your iPhone for more than 5 minutes you will have noticed the that included ringtones are a bit crap! And for some reason, Apple don’t make it easy for you too add your own custom ringtones.
That’s not to say it isn’t possible though! Here are the best 3 ways to get custom ringtones on your iPhone 3G.
1. Create Your Own Custom Ringtones in iTunes
This way is the best because it’s totally free. You can make a ringtone from any of the the tracks already in your iTunes library (except, unfortunately it seems not to work with tracks purchased from the iTunes store).
- 1) Right click the song you want to make into a ringtone and select Get Info.
- 2) Select Options in the Get Info window.
- 3) Click the Start and Stop checkboxes and enter the start and finish times for the part of the track you want to use as your ringtone. It must be under 40 seconds or the iPhone will not recognise it as a ringtone. Select ‘OK’
- 4) Right click again and choose ‘Convert Selection to AAC’ This will create a new file with the same name but the track length will be under 40 seconds.
- 5) Right Click and choose ‘Show In Finder’ (Show In Windows Explorer for PC)
- 6) The file will have a .m4a file extension. Change this to .m4r
- 7) Remove the file from iTunes (but don’t delete from your computer)
-
Drag the file back into iTunes and it will then appear in the Ringtones section. - 9) While your iPhone is connected, click on your iPhone under the iTunes device listing, choose the ‘Ringtones’ tab, then check the box for ‘Sync all Ringtones’. (You only need to do this part once, the first time)

. Create Custom Ringtones With….
If you have a Mac you can use GarageBand to create your ringtones. Simply import any audio file, clip it down to under 40 seconds and then choose ‘Save As iPhone Ringtone’.
Another great Mac program is AudialHub which allows you to convert from any type of audio track including mp3, aac, flac, wav, ogg etc… it also has a ‘Save As iPhone Ringtone’ option.
If you have a PC you can use the imaginatively titled iPhone Ringtone Maker.
Please be aware that both AudialHub and iPhone Ringtone Maker are paid for apps. You may wish to try a subscription approach….
3. Receive iPhone Ringtones Via Subscription
RingtoneFeeder is a paid subscription service ($1.98US/mo. or $19.98US/year) that allows you to download songs and other audio files to use as ringtones on your iPhone.
When you subscribe you will get the latest 10 iPhone ringtones released and then at least two new ringtones every week for as long as you are subscribed. The ringtones are optimised for iPhone and sounds great.

Get Video Ringtones on your iPhone 2.0 with MiVTones
August 7th, 2008 by iPhoneTechZone
MiVTones is the new name for VideosTone for the iPhone. It is a great app that allows you to use a video clip for your ringtone. MiVTones comes from iFoneTec.com, a Hong Kong based software development company that specializes in iPhone Software Development.

MiVTones Features:
1. Support Firmware V2.0
2. Set Video Sound Mute
3. Set Vibration on/off
It is currently available for install via Cydia or manually add the source app.ifonetec.com/cydia. Once you have installed it, you will find the app in your settings. Once you have installed it, you will find the app in your settings. Once you open it up, you’ll need to register with http://www.MiVTones.com to register a MiVTones account to be able to get a password. The app is free to use, but if you pay the ~$20 USD you’ll be bale to assign a video to each contact if you wish and they also promise other exciting new features.
I am personally not sure if this app (or the single added feature for now) is worth $20, maybe $4.99 or something. The developer only gives you one video to use for now and you’ll have to upload your own via SSH. Videos are stored in /var/mobile/Media/VideoTone/Video/ - (it says it uses AIF files, not sure if mp4 still works). I used to use MXTube and Finder to download music videos and use them as Video Ringtones, but with no MobileFinder on the iPhone for 2.0 yet, you’ll need to do this manually.
