Infinidock App Let’s You Scroll Horizontally In Your Dock
January 11th, 2010 by iPhoneTechZone
Infinidock is a new tweak by chpwn makes your dock infinite (by scrolling) and lets you set the numbers of icons. Like me if you are interested in putting more than 5-6 icons in your Dock Infinidock is for us. With Infinidock you can insert up to 10 icons and move them horizontally with a finger swipe. With InfiniDock, you can effectively have a scrolling dock, saving space on your SpringBoard and probably leading to great themes in the very near future. This tweak is simple to get, and effortless to use, watch the video and see for yourself!

Infinidock is sold on Cydia Store at a price of $ 0.99

Appsidy: The newest Cydia Store Payment Method
December 22nd, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
As the iPhone becomes more and more popular to the world there is no doubt that jailbreaking the iphone has also gotten very popular. As a matter of fact jailbreaking the iphone has gotten so popular it has been featured on many reputable websites such as cnet.com, tuaw.com, and the list goes on. My point is that jailbreaking the iphone is allowing us the users to be able to do more than we could have imagined whether it be making our iphone a wireless router, to allowing us to make voip calls using skype and 3g unrestrictor.
Now that you know where jailbreaking the iphone is going we can speak of cydia and the business aspect of jailbreaking. For you the user jailbreaking is to get all of the goods but for developers it is like a gold mine with a lot of revenue potential. A year ago you had to purchase an application from cydia by downloading an app and paying the developer however he wanted you to pay whether it was through paypal or some other payment type. Now Saurik the creator of Cydia has created the Cydia Store which allows you to purchase a lot of great jailbroken apps all found in one section which you probably see every time you open the cydia app. The great thing about the cydia store is that you can pay using paypal or amazon payments and they go to saurik so your sure no foul play is involved as he is well known. Another great thing about this is that when you purchase an app you have to authenticate your iphone using your google email account or your facebook id. The authentication feature is great because this ties your purchases to your iphone, so lets say your iphone messes up and you have to restore it and lose your purchased applications. No need to worry because after your back into cydia and have authenticated yourself using your id you can re-download your purchased app for free as you have already paid for it.
Now lets speak of appsidy a new payment method for cydia, it seems fine as competition is always welcome. As of right now things are a little sketchy about this payment method, I have read around forums and done some research and people are having quite a few problems with purchases not going through but getting charged, to paying for an app and not being able to download it. Appsidy doesn’t charge an extra 25 cent paypal fee for using paypal to buy something using their service which is great and i’m sure once Appsidy gets up and running smoothly payments will go through without a problem. It looks like the competition is starting to get tough for cydia now that there are quite a few different stores set up for jailbroken iPhone’s such as rockapp and this new appsidy. Don’t get too excited though because with this new payment method comes a flaw. Take a look at their license transfer policy and NO REFUND policy and this might turn you away

Multitask on your jailbroken iPhone/iPod Touch in Palm Pre style
December 21st, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
We all knew this was gonna happen. The day Ryan Petrich announced he was working on a new application to manage backgrounded apps on the iPhone, everyone thought of Multifl0w, and how ProSwitcher (this is the name of the new app by Petrich) could become the new, best multitasking application from Cydia. And here we are today, with ProSwitcher in public beta and a multifl0w update on its way. I’ve been trying ProSwitcher for a few hours now, and I’ve already ditched Multifl0w for it.

ProSwitcher is smooth. It works like Multifl0w, basically, but it’s in details where it stands out. First, animations: when you activate ProSwitcher so that it brings the backgrounded apps on front, the windows fades in and out as if it’s powered by Mac OS’ CoreAnimation or CoreGraphic. It’s sexy. Same applies when you choose the application or quit ProSwitcher: everything feels so natural and integrated into iPhone OS you’ll ask yourself if it’s a native appllication. And I repeat, it’s the first beta, many updates and fixes will come.
Moving on, ProSwitcher comes with a large set of Preferences: you can choose to display the application’s title right under the preview window, dim the background, swipe to close, set a corner radius and many other things. Also, you can choose between 10+ activation methods, including taps / swipes on the statusbar and pinch on the Spingboard.
ProSwitcher is way better than Multifl0w right now, there’s no doubt about it. You can download the beta by adding this source in Cydia: http://booleanmagic.com/repo

December 18th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone

October 17th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
Orbit for the iPhone has hit the Cydia Store today for just $1.99. Orbit is a new app that has been developed by Steven Troughton-Smith and is available through the BigBoss Repo in Cydia. When selected the app launches and shows you all your pages making it easier for you to select and get to your pages quicker.
Here is the what the description in Cydia Says:
Orbit brings you an instant way to switch between pages on your home screen. Based on the iPhone Expose concept, this modification gives you an icon that, when tapped, animates your home page into Orbit.
Video:
Orbit is only available for 3.0 firmwares and above. I have to say that this is the first Cydia app that I have bought and I think I have made a great choice.

MySMS: An alternative to stock SMS app for iPhone
August 31st, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
iPhone app developer iSoft has released a new version of MySMS, a replacement SMS app kinda like BiteSMS. MySMS now stands at version 0.8.6-1. We don’t have a changelog, though, so let’s look at the features instead.

Here’s what MySMS can do:
- Set main password on app loading
- Total single / individual SMS or conversation deletion (default client just hide a message, it still be in database. mySMS Secure erase and wipe deleted messages, it can’t be restored)
- Fast load of program and messages
- Landscape typing
- Character counter
- SMS forwarding (works with chat conversations too)
- Send contacts through SMS
- Simple contact list search
- Use stock message templates or create your own
- Disable autocorrection
- Use your own skin
A free but unregistered version of MySMS can be downloaded through Cydia. It’s already full-featured, but the devs state that 20 of messages will send a little longer than usual. You can pay US 4.95 to remove the SMS sending delay or go for the full US 24 version that lets you send encrypted SMS messages with 256-AES encryption.

App to Remedy to iPhone broken Silent switch
August 5th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
A major problem with the iPhone is that you can’t get it repaired easily. Last year when I broke my iPhone’s power switch, I luckily found a store that repaired it. But this time I haven’t been that lucky.
Few days back, I dropped my iPhone on the road and the silent switch broke. The phone has permanently gone into silent mode. No matter what I try (mind you, i’ve tried a lot) it just doesn’t work. In fact while trying to fix it using a safety pin I’ve made big dents on the sides
Worst of all, I’m unable to find stores who can fix this. Leave the spare parts issue, most of them don’t even know how to open the body.

Anyway, today after some extensive Googling, I managed to find a temporary solution for the issue. The solution is a Jailbroken app called Mirror Profile that allows you to create a schedule based on which your iPhone can have different properties based on the time as well as day of the week. I installed this app and changed my profile from “Sleeping” to “Standard”. And voila, It enabled all the ringers!
The app costs $5.99 and works well. There is a 30-day trial if you want to check if it works for you. The only problem I have with paid Jailbroken apps is that there isn’t any guarantee that they will work with the next OS upgrade.
Anyway, this solution gives you at least 30 days to find a proper fix. And it proves that there is some API that can be used to create a simple SBSettings toggle for this. If nothing works out, I might have to get my hands dirty and do it.

Apple’s App Store Now Challenged By Cydia Store
March 14th, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
The competitor to Apple’s closed and tightly controlled App Store, Cydia Store, has recently opened. It works on only jailbreaked phones, so that constitutes a complicated process for most users. With Cydia Store, developers of jailbreaked apps can also charge for their products.

The advantage of Cydia’s App Store is that it hosts applications that do things ‘legal’ applications can’t do. For example, the camcorder software Cycorder is only available through Cydia. Same applies to applications that let the user do user interface customizations which are not possible otherwise.

Cydia uses Amazon payments to process the paid applications. The ‘Download’ button for free apps turns into ‘Purchase’.

The user experience is not as smooth as on the App Store, you have to go though a web interface to identify yourself and make the payment.

5-Row QWERTY Keyboard for iPhone
March 2nd, 2009 by iPhoneTechZone
If you’re like me, you’re probably annoyed with Apple’s idea that you need to press a separate key on the on-screen keyboard to get to numbers. No more, thanks to the new application simply called “5-Row QWERTY Keyboard.” Yap, it works just like it sounds, adding a fifth row with numbers on top of the rest of the QWERTY keyboard!

You may think that as a result, other keys get smaller, hence impossible to use. Wrong! Take a look at the image above – the application simply condenses other keys, leaving just enough room for numbers. Best of all, when you press the “Shift” key, numbers change to their symbol equivalent!
The way I see it, this is easy – you want this! If you have a jailbroken iPhone, simply search for “5-Row QWERTY Keyboard” in Cydia, and take it from there. Otherwise, if you needed a reason to go the “jailbreak way,” now you got it, right?
